The Young/Skilled Review
Estimated Reading Time: 3 Min
Hi All! This week we’re talking about searching in Silk, since many of you asked us about it, removing chat functionality from Silk, and importance of A/B testing.
Quick Silk Tips
Searching in Silk
In most places in Silk you will find a search-box. Depending on where it is located, you can search with different criteria. Usually, the most common fields can be searched just by typing directly in the box. For example, in 'CUSTOMERS' in the retail section of the top menu, you can only search for a name, but if you want to see customers created on a specific date or customers with a specific amount of orders, you must use the Search Types explained in this article.
Bye bye, chat!
FYI: In light of free chat alternatives like Slack and Skype, we've decided to remove Silk's chat functionality completely. This allows us to give more love to our core eCommerce features and functionalities.
Data never lies
A/B testing (sometimes called split testing, or bucket testing) is a method of comparing two versions of a web page to see which one performs better. You compare two web pages by showing the two variants (let's call them A and B) to similar visitors at the same time. The one that gives a better conversion rate, wins! Testing takes the guesswork out of website optimization and enables data-informed decisions that shift business conversations from "we think" to "we know."
Almost anything on your website that affects visitor behavior can be A/B tested. What can you test? Headlines, sub headlines, paragraph text, testimonials, call to action text, call to action button, links, images, content near the fold, social proof, media mentions, awards and badges. Advanced tests can include pricing structures, sales promotions, free trial lengths, navigation and UX experiences, free or paid delivery, and more.
